I have a recording studio, a few songwriters groups, film groups, and lots of people that need music. We are working on what is going to happen next in Internet Music. Basically, the Artist and Author [the songwriter is usually both] takes in all the payments and he or she then pays the publisher, the record company, whomever else. For the last century this has been backwards and the manufacturers of hard copies got the money first and then paid the artists and authors, and at that usually pennies while they made all the dollars.

The Internet is returning the split to favor the writers because there is no longer any manufacturing costs associated with music production.

The same thing is happening in the film and video industries which part of the Internet Entertainment industry.

Too many people are reading too many books from the past and not paying attention to the here and now and to what's coming in the future.

We, the Artists, have already replaced the entire record and publishing industries with software companies, whose pay out on downloads [physical copies in essence because they can be replayed many times on a physical device, the computer or dvd or mp3 player, even a cellphone] up to 70%, that is, 70 cents on the dollar. Microsoft pays that, iTunes pays about 67 cents on the dollar, but may Stephen Jobs will most likely match Bill Gates. Yahoo, Google, and the rest are following suit because 30% profit margin with absolutely no cost and no overhead are lucrative returns on investment indeed.

A songwriter that settles for the obsolete "How to make money making music" books is in for a real shock when compared to the reality of the 21st century when comparing his old time 2 cents to 6 cents per copy to 70 cents per copy.

If you really want to become a successful songwriter, all songwriters are going to have to work together and not operate in a vacuum bubble.

This songwriters group is a good beginning, but there are stronger and larger organizations of songwriters outside of traditional associations, new associations and organizations, even Performing Rights Organizations, that are currently flying under the radar, but only until they make their final run and strike out the old publishers and record companies from their ranks so that the songwriters can take full and exclusive control of their money, which is the crux of their musical career.

Pop over and join me and more than 600 people in Philadelphia that are spearheading the stronger organizations so that we can all make a living at what we do.

We have rebuilt our site which is maintained locally in Philadelphia. It is the oldest Music site on the Internet and it has never changed hands, and never will. Soon, we'll be not only presenting music and movies, but setting up everything artists and performers need to make money at their craft, and, they will collect the money.

You really need to find out more: http://www.Musics.com/SMF/

Stop by and say hello Philadelphia.
